Course Descriptions:
Spanish Grade - 9
This course provides learning opportunities in the basic Spanish language arts: reading comprehension, listening, writing, viewing and speaking . It aims to assist students in developing basic oral and written communication skills. Students will have the opportunity to cook Spanish food in a multicultural day. Students will visit Spanish restaurants and places. Upon completion of the course, students should be able to comprehend, read, write and to speak Spanish at a basic level of proficiency. This course also introduces students to the history, geography and diversity of our Spanish culture.
Spanish Grade - 10
Students will use Spanish in a variety of situations and for a variety of purposes such as: express emotions and personal perspectives, impart and receive information, maintain interpersonal relationships, use the language for imaginative purposes and personal enjoyment, extend their knowledge of the work and to use it in a real life situation. Students will make piñatas and other crafts and will practise the language with the community by visiting Spanish restaurants and markets.
Spanish Grade - 11
The purpose of this course is to assist the student in the further development of the receptive and expressive language skills in Spanish. Students are provided with opportunities to continue learning about the richness of Spanish culture. By the end of this course the student should be able to listen, read, write and speak at an intermediate level of proficiency. Students will connect with the Spanish community by visiting Spanish places.
Spanish 12Grade - 12
Students will be able to share information, thoughts, opinions, preferences and emotions and feelings. They will be able to guide the actions of others, state personal actions and manage group actions. They will be able to extend their knowledge of the world by gathering and organizing information by using their problem-solving skills and by exploring opinions and values. They will also be able to use the language for personal enjoyment, and to manage personal relationships. Spanish Day is promoted every year with the help and coordination of our students.
